Mama mia! Mario-inspired Italian restaurant debuts in downtown Phoenix
A prolific northern Arizona restaurateur is making his Valley restaurant debut with a colorful new Italian restaurant in downtown Phoenix this October. Skyler Reeves, a prolific northern Arizona restaurateur, is set to open his fifth original concept, Hero, in downtown Phoenix. The restaurant is set up at the Rainbow Road apartment complex and is inspired by the Mario brothers video games, particularly Mario Kart. The design of the restaurant is subtle, with a red and blue heavy color palette and light fixtures that blend retro and futuristic. The food at Hero will be served by chef Yuji Iwasa, who is also a Japanese chef and shares his recipes with Reeves. The drinks menu includes wine, beer and specialty cocktails.
