Trail cam captures western diamondbacks emerging from a den, with one fixated on the lens
"Wow! I've never seen a trail cam set for any snake!" A trail camera set up on a western diamondback rattlesnake den has captured a close look at several snakes emerging from the opening, including one that appeared to focus on the lens. The video sparked discussion about whether the camera may have influenced the scene. One user suggested that the camera's IR light may confuse the snake, which has facial pits that detect infra-red, and another suggested that it could be due to the presence of human technology. Concerns also arose about protecting the den, with some suggesting that withholding exact den locations could help limit disturbance from curious visitors. The incident highlighted the difficulty of reading subtle behavior in wildlife footage.
