Fire crews responded to the area of South Horne Road and East Eighth Avenue for a reported pediatric drowning and found the boy already out of the water. The boy's mother had gone inside to use the bathroom and when she came back out to check on him, she found her son in the pool, pulled him out and called 911. A police investigation found that the child had been put down for a nap in a trailer located in the backyard of the family's residence. No other information had been released.

A 1-year-old boy in Mesa died on Sunday after being pulled from a pool in a drowning accident.

Just before 7 p.m., Mesa fire crews responded to the area of South Horne Road and East Eighth Avenue for a reported pediatric drowning. When crews arrived, they found the boy already out of the water and began providing treatment.

Responding personnel transported the boy to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead that evening.

According to Mesa fire, a police investigation found that the child had been put down for a nap in a trailer, located in the backyard of the family's residence. The boy's mother had gone inside to use the bathroom — and when she came back out to check on him — she found her son in the pool, pulled him out, and called 911.

Foul play is not suspected, police said.

No other information had been released.
