Flood Watch Issued For La Mesa

A storm will bring heavy rain, a chance of thunderstorms, and possible flooding Monday to San Diego County. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for San Diego County, including La Mesa, due to widespread moderate to heavy rainfall expected early Monday morning. The watch will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., affecting the county's coastal areas, deserts, mountains and valleys. Forecasters warned that flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas, and storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.

"Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will develop Monday morning, impacting the morning commute," the National Weather Service reported. "Isolated thunderstorms will also be possible, with pockets of very heavy rain. Rain tapers off to scattered showers Monday night and Tuesday morning." The NWS issued a flood watch for San Diego County, including La Mesa. The flood watch will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday for the county's coastal areas, deserts, mountains and valleys.

Forecasters said flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. "You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings," the NWS advised. "Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop."
