Flash Flood Warning In Effect For La Mesa

"Dangerous flash flooding," the National Weather Service warned. "Heavy rain producing areas of flash flooding." The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of San Diego County due to heavy rain falling across the region. The warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m. Locations expected to see flash flooding include Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Vista. The NWS also issued another flash flood alert for the coast and valley locations in central and southern San Diego county. As of 9:34 am., between 0.5 and 0.75 inches of rain had fallen in the past three hours. Additional rainfall amounts are possible in the warned area.

LA MESA, CA — Parts of San Diego County were under a flash flood warning Monday morning as heavy rain fell across the region .

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 8:21 a.m. for the county's coastal areas and western valleys. The warning is in effect until 11:30 a.m. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Camp Pendleton, Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Oceanside, San Marcos, Solana Beach and Vista.

The NWS issued another flash flood warning at 9:34 a.m. for the coast and valley locations in central and southern San Diego County. The warning is in effect until 12:45 p.m. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Chula Vista, Coronado, Del Mar, El Cajon, Imperial Beach, La Mesa, National City, North Park, Mission Valley and Poway.

According to the NWS, doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling across the warned area.

As of 9:34 a.m., between 0.5 and 0.75 inches of rain had fallen in the past three hours, the NWS reported. The expected rainfall rate was 0.4 to 0.6 inches in one hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 0.75 inches, locally up to 1 inch, were possible in the warned area.
