Participating shops and restaurants will offer candy and other treats, while Halloween-themed stilt walkers roam the boulevard. Downtown La Mesa businesses will welcome trick-or-treaters and their costumed pets for the eighth annual Halloween in La Mesa Village on October 31. The event, organized by the La Mesa Villagers Association, will feature free candy, stilt walkers, and a pet costume contest. Participating shops and restaurants will distribute treats, while Halloween-themed stiltwalkers roam the boulevard. The pet costume competition, which began in 2019, attracts about 50 to 75 registered pets. The contest also includes prizes for "Best Pet/Pet Parent Combo" and "Most Festive Halloween Pet". The event also gives independent shops a chance to reach visitors who might not otherwise know about them.
