Flooding swamps Four Corners communities

Floodwaters reached homes in Utah and prompted evacuations in Colorado after tornadoes struck Arizona. More severe weather has hit the Four Corners region, with heavy rain flooding homes in Utah and Colorado evacuations in Colorado after tornadoes damaged parts of Arizona. The city of Hurricane in Utah declared a state of emergency after reddish-brown floodwater flooded 80 homes in a neighborhood and 50 recreational vehicles in an RV park. The flooding was not unexpected due to two months of heavy rain that ended a summer of drought. In southern Colorado, rising waters prompted mandatory evacuations along four rivers, including the San Juan River through Pagosa Springs, a resort town known for its riverside hot springs. The National Weather Service reported at least three tornadoes down in central Arizona.
