Some lanes of southbound State Route 163 at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in Kearny Mesa, California, were closed for an undetermined amount of time due to pieces of the overpass falling down on the freeway. The California Highway Patrol closed the right two lanes of SR-163 and alerted the public to expect delays in the area. It is not yet clear what caused the damage.
