Teen boy indicted on 8 counts for shooting outside Mesa reception hall
The 16-year-old was turned away from a Halloween party in Mesa, before he started shooting a security guard and an off-duty cop. Teen boy, Jesus Figueroa, has been indicted on eight counts, including attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and one count of minor possessing or carrying a firearm. The charges stem from a shooting outside a Halloween party at Versalles Reception Hall in Mesa on Oct. 10. Figuroa reportedly pointed a gun at a security guard and fired at him before running towards a vehicle, which both he and another man were hit with non-life-threatening injuries. Under Arizona law, a minor can be named when charged with first-degree murder, as state automatically prosecutes those aged 15, 16, or 17 as adults for major violent felonies.
