Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition scrap metal drive begins, offers free food to participants
The coalition says it successfully gathered 6,800 pounds of metal during last year's drive. The Keweenaw Outdoor Recreation Coalition (KORC) is leading a scrap metal recycling drive across the Keweeeenaw Peninsula, asking for volunteers to remove items such as cans, culverts, chains and wire from areas like parks, preserves and roadsides. The coalition is also offering free food to participants. Last year, KORC gathered 6,800 pounds of scrap metal, aiming to exceed this record in the upcoming scrap metal drive. The final day of the drive will be Thursday, when participants can drop off metal at a trailer at Gratiot Lake Road and another at Cliff View Bar in Phoenix.
