Mesa County deputies arrested two women, Kayla Hutton and Maegan Giles, after discovering over $2,500 in stolen tools and multiple outstanding arrest warrants during a traffic stop in Grand Junction, Colorado. During the stop, deputies recovered brand-new, unopened packages of tools that a local Home Depot confirmed were stolen earlier that morning by a suspect matching Hutton. Both women were booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on charges of felony shoplifting theft, obstruction of a peace officer, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of less than four grams of a schedule I or II controlled substance. Hutton remains in custody on seven $2K cash-only bonds totalling $17,500. Giles remains in jail on a single contempt of court warrant. The driver of the vehicle had no active warrants and was released at the scene.
