More members, money andfractures: The uncertain future of Erika Kirk’s Turning Point USA

Student leaders described a renewed energy among young conservatives, others described a more chaotic and divided landscape. The future of Erika Kirk's Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a conservative youth movement founded by Kirk, is uncertain after the assassination of Kirk in 2025. Mia Tedesco, president of Turning PointUSA at Butler University, Indiana, laid out bracelets with the name "We are Charlie Kirk" as an homage to Kirk, who was fatally shot at an event in Utah last year. The group, established in 2012, has since grown to be one of the largest and most prominent conservative youth movements in the country. However, the future of TPUSA is uncertain as the larger Republican base is fracturing, the war in Iran continues and gas prices rise. Some college conservatives, especially Gen Z men, are frustrated with Kirk's leadership and are questioning his ability to mobilize young voters.
