GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Primary election ballots were mailed out in Mesa and Montrose Counties and both will have their primary election day on Tuesday, June 25th. Officials with the Mesa County Clerk and Recorder’s Office tell us they mailed out 107,000 ballots.

We asked them: What are you doing to ensure election security and integrity?

Bobbie Gross, Mesa County Clerk, tells us that there are many systems in place to ensure the security of the primary election. One of these systems is the ‘logic and accuracy test.’ This test is run by a bipartisan team and is open to the public to view. The test consists of each political party electing a member from their party to test the ballot. The election office also has a test deck that tabulates and verifies that election equipment is accurate. A new camera surveillance system monitors ballot boxes and tabulation room. Every election is followed by an audit.

The Mesa County Election Office also holds open houses form the public to view how the ballot process is done. The next open house is on June 19th at 11 AM.
