PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a First Alert Weather Day with an Excessive Heat Warning continuing for the deserts of Arizona. Valley temperatures will peak near 112 degrees today under sunny skies. That’s well above the normal or average high of 104 in the Valley this time of year and just one degree shy of the 113 degree record high for today’s date.
Temperatures once again climb to 112 degrees tomorrow with another First Alert day. The Heat Warning expires at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Strong high pressure will be replaced by an incoming trough of low pressure that could bring some light showers and isolated thunderstorms late Thursday and Friday. This will mainly impact the higher elevations, with the Valley not seeing more than a few sprinkles at most. Where thunderstorms develop, the main concern will be dry lightning and gusty winds.
Over the weekend, temperatures begin to climb again with high pressure returning to the region. Look for highs near 112 to 113 Saturday and Sunday. Both will be First Alert Weather Days.
