Laura Owens heads to jail after targeting 'Bachelor' Clayton Echard
Laura Owens pleaded guilty to charges she defrauded men, including 'Bachelor' Clayton Echard, in a pregnancy scheme. Laura Owens, a 36-year-old Phoenix woman, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and seven years probation for her part in a pregnancy fraud scheme that targeted multiple men with false pregnancy claims. The lead detective in the case described Owens as a "master of manipulation," focusing on control over her victims and a desire for notoriety and prestige. Clayton Echard, who appeared on "The Bachelorette" and "The Bachelor," was one of the victims. Owens named Echard in a 2023 lawsuit claiming that he had fathered her twins. The judge had the discretion to send Owens to prison for more than a decade or more. If she violates probation terms, she will be immediately placed on probation.
