Technical education districts eye Prop. 320 effects
The Arizona Auditor General will determine whether Prop. 320 applies to CTEDs. State officials are trying to determine if a ballot measure requiring specific levels of classroom spending by school districts should apply to unique districts for technical education. The measure, Prop. 320, would require school districts to spend at least 60% of their operational funds on classroom instruction, and those districts that don't meet this threshold lose funding. This applies only to districts with at least 7,500 students or counties with at-large populations of at least 500,000 people. The Arizona Auditor General, which would enforce Prop.320, hasn't yet determined whether the measure would apply to these districts. Major equipment spending is unlikely to count toward the 60% benchmark, but it wouldn't count against CTEDs as non-instructional spending.
